After playing its first half of the regular season on the road, the Devils Lake baseball team is set to play six straight home doubleheaders, beginning today at 5:30 p.m. versus the Fargo Jets.
The Storm have a 3-3 conference record and an overall mark of 5-5.
DL began its season with five road doubleheaders, ending last week with a road trip.
After splitting with Valley City on Monday, the Storm traveled to Minneapolis to watch the Minnesota Twins play Philadelphia on Tuesday. They then split with the West Fargo Aces on Wednesday, then watched a Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks game Thursday before returning to Devils Lake.
Against Valley City, DL lost Game 1 8-1, struggling to get its offense going with four hits and 12 strikeouts.
Landyn Swenson had two of those hits and Lance Anderson and Noah Widmer both added a single.
In the second game that was scheduled for five innings, the Storm needed just three innings to win 11-0. Widmer used the short game to his advantage on the mound, pitching a perfect game on just 32 pitches.
Swenson and Anderson led the way offensively again, with Swenson having two singles and scoring three times and Anderson with another two singles and scoring two runs.
The Storm took Game 1 against West Fargo on Thursday, 4-2.
Swenson went all seven innings on the mound, giving up seven hits, walking three batters and striking out 10. He also added three singles on the offensive side.
Jordan Swanson and Widmer both contributed two singles and Landen Hall, Jacob Greene and Ethan Sampson all had singles.
In Game 2, West Fargo scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to win 10-9.
Hall, Sampson and Widmer all had three singles and Michael Widmer had his first career legion hit in the second inning while also walking twice. The Storm used four pitchers in the game.
