The Devils Lake legion baseball team defeated Wahpeton 11-0 in Monday’s conference counter game, then lost 5-3.

Landyn Swenson pitched a no-hitter for the Storm in Game 1, getting through the five-inning game on 71 pitches while striking out six batters and walking three.

Swenson also got on base all four times with a single and three walks.

Ryan Haahr scored three runs along with Swenson and reached base four times. Jordan Swanson had a single and a double.

DL had eight batters reach base at least two times as head coach Randy Ostermiller said he has been impressed with his team’s performance at the plate so far this season.

In Game 2, Landen Hall, Swanson, Lance Anderson, Parker Schmid and Noah Widmer all tallied hits, but Wahpeton got the 5-3 win.

The Storm scored three runs in the top of the first, but couldn’t take advantage the rest of the game by stranding nine base runners.

Defensively, DL had zero errors. The highlight of the game came when Ambrosia Little Wind made a nice catch on a fly ball to right field, then threw a perfect throw to first to double-up the runner.

DL travels to Grand Forks today for a doubleheader.
