LRSC women get a win at NDSCS, men lose fourth straight

The Lake Region State College basketball teams traveled to Wahpeton, N.D., on Sunday to take on North Dakota State College of Science. The women won 80-76 while the men lost 96-55.

The Lady Royals improved to 21-6 and 8-1 in the Mon-Dak Conference.

Sunday’s game featured more balanced scoring.

Kelsey Schlenk shot 8-of-11, including 6-of-9 3-pointers, to lead LRSC with 22 points. Kennedy Henningsgard added 19 points and four assists.

Post players Kristal Flowers and Cassidy Nelson both contributed 12 points and Megan Cantellano had 10 points and five rebounds.

On the men’s side, the Royals lost their fourth straight conference game and now sit at 18-9 overall and 3-6 in the Mon-Dak with the 96-55 loss.

AJ Nywesh led LRSC with 17 points and added five rebounds.

Ryan Clark scored 11 and rebounded 11. Ben Rennie also scored 11 points.

Both Royals teams host Bismarck State College Thursday, starting with the women at 6:30 p.m. and the men to follow at 8:30.
