Firebird football program holds banquet, names award winners

The Devils Lake football program officially wrapped up its 2014 season Thursday evening with its annual banquet held in the high school commons.

Players, parents and coaches were commended for their work during the season.

Awards were also announced during the banquet. As a team, the Firebirds earned Academic All-State for the 10th straight year.

Awards chosen by the players and staff were announced Thursday evening. They are as follows:

Offensive lineman: Frank Knowski

Offensive back: Bradley Davidson

Wide receiver: Jordan Swanson

Defensive lineman: Hunter Fee

Lineback: Ryan Kraft

Defensive back: Jordan Swanson

Special teams: Bradley Davidson

Dennis Flynn Dedication Award: Sean Olson and Blair Roemmich

Hardest worker: Nik Desai

Rookie of the Year: Jacob Mertens

Most improved: Zackery Shepherd

Most valuable players: Jordan Swanson and Bradley Davidson.

The Devils Lake High School football coaching staff is made up of Jay Schneider, Travis Thielges, Josh Jacobson, Todd Lambrecht, Jake Wateland, Mike Callahan, David Bitz and Tyler Marquart.
