Area Class B volleyball fans will notice a change in post-season play during the 2014 campaign. In the past years, district volleyball tournaments would have wrapped up early this year.

This season, however, Region 4 teams have not competed in districts. Instead, all 11 teams have faced off against each other throughout the season.

For post-season play, the teams all participate in region tournament play rather than competing in a district tournament.

The biggest change in the system is that the regional play-in matches will be held at the higher-rated seed.

The schedule looks like this. On Friday (tonight) at 7 p.m., New Rockford, six seed, will host St. John, 11th seed, Harvey-Wells County, seventh seed, will welcome Dunseith, the eight seed, and Dakota Prairie, the nine seed, will travel to face the eighth-seeded Rolla Bulldogs.

The winners will advance to the eight-team Region 4 Tournament which begins Monday, Nov. 10 in Devils Lake.

Top-seeded North Star, Langdon-Munich the second seed, and Benson County, third seed, will take on winners of the play-in matches.

Lakota-Edmore and Rolette-Wolford are currently scheduled to clash in the four-five matchup.

Tournament play, which ends Thursday, Nov. 13, begins at 3 p.m. Monday with each contest beginning 25 minutes after the completion of the previous match.
