Madison Walford, Christa Lynse and Taylor Swanson each poured in double-digit efforts in the second half on Thursday and powered the Devils Lake Lady Firebirds to an impressive 86-47 win over the Fargo Davies Lady Eagles.

With the win, Devils Lake improved to 4-7 in Eastern Dakota Conference play, and moved to 5-8 overall.

Fargo Davies managed to stay close early in the contest. Backed by a trio of three-point shots in the first 16 minutes of play, the Lady Eagles managed to slide into the half down by just two, at 31-29.

Walford, a 6-foot-1 junior, and Lynse highlighted the Lady Firebirds’ first-half scoring effort by throwing in seven points apiece. Taylor Swanson added six, while Jadyn Fee added five.

Walford and Fee notched Devils Lake’s only treys of the first half.

The Lady Firebirds shifted their offensive attack into another gear in the second. The DLHS girls pounded Davies on the inside throughout the half and outscored the Lady Eagles by a staggering 55-18 margin.

Walford led the way for Devils Lake in the second half. She pumped in 16 of her game-high 23 points in the final 16 minutes.

Lynse and Swanson were just as impressive. Both scored 13 points in the second half and finished with 20 and 19 points, respectively.

Fee almost became the fourth DLHS player to reach double-digits. The sophomore standout tallied nine in the contest.

Devils Lake will host Jamestown on Feb. 12 in the Devils Lake Sports Center.
