Legion home opener Saturday postponed
Journal Staff Report
Just days into the start of the 2011 American Legion baseball schedule, Devils Lake coach Justin Bear has announced the home opener, which was slated for Saturday against Cando, has been postponed.
The first-year Storm coach announced that due to a number of his players scheduled to be taking part in a football team camp at Valley City State University Saturday’s game is expected to be rescheduled. Bear also said Sunday’s scheduled game at Minot could also be rescheduled to a later date.
The Storm, which dropped both games of Tuesday’s season-opening twinbill against the Grand Forks Royals, has a full slate of road games scheduled for next week.
Devils Lake is to take on East Grand Forks (Minn.) and Cando June 15-16 before taking part in the annual Grafton Invitational beginning Friday and running through Sunday.
The Storm is also scheduled to travel to Bismarck (June 24) and Jamestown (June 27) before playing host to the Citizen’s Community Credit Union Storm Classic June 30 through July 2 at Legion Field.
Devils Lake will play six of its final seven doubleheaders at home, while also taking part in the Jamestown Invitational, which is slated for July 15-17 in the Buffalo City.
The state tournament will be played in Grand Forks the last week of July.
