CANDO, N.D. — For much of the season North Star has had one of three players step up and deliver in a big way as the Bearcats continued to win game after game.

On Wednesday all three rose to the occassion as the Bearcats easily defeated St. John 69-34.

Jacob Hagler, Grant Lindahl and Daniel Grande combined for 53 of North Star’s 69 points on the way to the victory.

Hagler paced the way with 19 points, while Lindahl finished with 18 and Grande chipped in with 16 points of his own.

Five other players combined for the remaining 16 points.

North Star opened the game on a 17-6 run through the first quarter and eventually increased its lead to 28-15 at halftime. A 41-19  run over the final two periods was simply too much for St. John.

North Star finished the game with 25 field goals, including seven 3-pointers, and was 12 of 16 from the free throw line as the Bearcats improved to 14-0 on the year.

Christian Davis led the way for the Woodchucks with 11 points and was the lone St. John player to finish in double figures.

North Star, which is tied with Fargo Oak Grove atop the latest state Class B poll, will look to keep its perfect mark intact with a pair of games this weekend. The Bearcats travel to Rolette-Wolford on Friday and then take on Carrington on Saturday at the Cardinals home court.

Carrington handed North Star its only loss of the 2009-10 season in the regional championship game last year.

St. John will entertain Langdon on Friday and will take part in the Class B Day on Saturday in Devils Lake.
