Gowan helps Bearcats slip past Cardinals 53-52

LANGDON, N.D. — Megan Gowan and Allie Heisler both scored six points in the fourth quarter as North Star rallied for a 53-52 win over homestanding Langdon on Tuesday.

Langdon, which used a 15-8 scoring spree in the second quarter to grab a 27-23 lead at halftime, found itself in front 42-35 with eight minutes to play.

That was when Gowan and Heisler took over.

Gowan netted three field goals in the final period, whle Heisler added one of her own and also drained four free throws to fuel the comeback

Kelsey Teubner and Brittany Held also added a pair of free throws as the Bearcats salted away the victory by going eight of nine from the foul line in the final period.

Gowan finished the game with 12 points to lead the Bearcats. Teubner and Heisler added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for North Star.

Langdon was led by McKenzie Hart’s game-high 17 points, while Breanna Downs chipped in with 11 points of her own.

North Star is scheduled to entertain Starkweather-Munich on Saturday, while Langdon is idle until Monday when the Cardinals travel to Rolette-Wolford to take on the Comets.
