Bearcats, Raiders pick up wins Thursday

LEEDS, N.D. — North Star placed three players in double figures as the Bearcats came away with a 65-46 win over Benson County on Thursday in Leeds.

Kelsey Teubner scored seven points and Ali Heisler added five points of her own in the first quarter as the Bearcats jumped to a 16-10 advantage after the first eight minutes of play.

North virtually put the game away with a 13-4 run in the second period to take a 29-14 lead at halftime.

Teuber finished with a game-high 17 points, while Heisler and Jessica Teubner both finished with 12 points for North Star.

The Wildcats were led by Sara Schwanke’s 13 points. She was the lone Benson County player to reach double digits.

North Star is at home on Tuesday when the Bearcats play Rolla-Rock Lake. Benson County will entertain Langdon on Tuesday.

NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. — Eighth-grader Fallyn Freije continued her hot play of late as she poured in 19 points, while Ashtin Freije added 16 points of her own as Lakota-Adams-Edmore defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne 52-37 on Thursday in New Rockford.

Fallyn Freije was held to just one field goal in the first period, but came to life over the next three periods of play. She ended the game with seven field goals and was five of eight from the free throw line to account for her scoring production.

Taryn Jacob and Lacey Grann paced the Rockets with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

L-A-E will entertain Carrington on Monday, while New Rockford-Sheyenne is at home against Kidder County that same day.
