CANDO, North Dakota — After being pushed to the limit by Rolette-Wolford two nights earlier North Star rebounded in a big way and swept past Lakota in straight sets on Thursday in Class B volleyball action in Cando.

The Bearcats won 25-12, 25-10, 25-8 and improved to 8-2 on the season.

“We’re working on staying motivated during the game and not relaxing during those middle 15 points,” coach Lauren Ressler said. “We really want to play for 25 straight points.”

Ressler also praised her front row for its play in Thursday’s victory.

“I always like to see lots of kill leaders,” she said. “It means our setters are using all of their options.”

Caitlin Holien and Kelsey Teubner each tallied nine kills to lead the Bearcats in that department, while Morgan Peters and Michelle Holien chipped in with seven and five kills, respectively.

Brittney Held paced North Star in two departments. She registered a team-best 23 assists in the match and also served a pair of aces.

North Star plays host to New Rockford-Sheyenne on Tuesday in Cando.
