Defending Region 4 champs sweep Bobcats

MADDOCK, N.D. — Opening the region schedule against the defending champion is always a daunting task in any sport.

Maddock learned that lesson in a hurry as defending Region 4 champion Harvey won in three sets to defeat the Bobcats Tuesday in Maddock.

The Hornets triumphed 25-17, 25-11, 25-20.

Sara Schwanke paced Maddock on both sides of the net. The 5-7 sophomore slammed down 10 kills on the night and added three blocks and nine assists for the Bobcats.

Jana Rice and Breanna Beuler each added three kills for Maddock.

Sheyenne Schneider, who is expected to be one of the most sought after volleyball players in the state this season, recorded 12 kills for the Hornets, while Rachael Nyhus and Maggie Lorenz added eight and four kills, respectively.

Becca Kourajian tallied 35 assists for Harvey.

Maddock travels to Midkota on Thursday.
