JAMESTOWN, N.D. —  With several of the familiar faces in attendance at Friday’s “Orr”iginal meet in Jamestown, Devils Lake cross country coach Curt Kukert came away with a good feeling after watching his Firebird boys team finish high in the team standings.

“This was one of the first times we’ve finished ahead of the likes of Jamestown, Fargo South, Valley City and Wahpeton,” said Kukert after his team finished 13th in the team standings. The Firebirds scored 364 points. A total of 24 teams took part in the meet, which was won by Century with 91 points at the Hillcrest Golf Course.

Grand Forks Central (92), West Fargo (112), Grand Forks Red River (131) and Fargo Shanley (156) rounded out the top five teams.

“Everyone ran great,” said a beeming Kukert.
