Carrington sweeps Midkota, Maddock outlasts Wells County

GLENFIELD, N.D. — Emily Thompson and three other players combined for 25 kills and five blocks as Carrington improved its record to 13-5 on the season with a three-game sweep of Midkota Tuesday in Class B volleyball action.

The Cardinals won 25-18, 25-23, 25-13 and are now 3-1 in District 7 play.

Thompson led the team kills (10)?and blocks (2), while Sierra Rosenau and Noelle Braaten each added six and Kali Kurtz chipped in with three.

That same group of Cardinals racked up all the blocks for Carrington, with Thompson garnering a pair.

Rosenau had a team-high six service aces, while Breanna Barton recorded three aces of her own in the match.

Charlsey Kessler, who had a team-high 12 assists, added two aces and Kurtz had one to go along with her six assists on the night.

FESSENDEN, N.D. — Erin Leier and Sharisa Yri combined for 26 kills to help lead Maddock to a thrilling win over Wells County in five games on Tuesday.

The Bobcats won 21-25, 28-26, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13.

Leier collected 18 kills in the match, while Yri knocked down eight of her own to aid in the triumph over the Bears.

Leier also added 12 assists and three blocks on the night. Sara Schwanke led the  team in both of those categories as she tallied 22 assists and three blocks during the contest.

Yri paced the Bobcats with 13 digs as defense played a critical win in the match. Kara Kallenbach had 12 digs of her own for Maddock, while Breanna Buehler chipped in with 10.

Katelynn Engh led the team with a pair of service aces.
