LEEDS - A big second quarter was more than enough to propel Lakota-Adams-Edmore to its second win of the week as the Raiders knocked off Benson County-Maddock 40-6 in nine-man football action Saturday.

Benson County-Maddock struck early when J.D. Schmid fielded an L-A-E punt and returned it 80 yards for the first score of the game to put the Wildcats in front 6-0 after the converson failed.

“We had a good start,” said Benson County-Maddock coach Jeff Manley. “We had some early opportunities to do some good things, but it came back to haunt us.”

The Raiders got things going in a big way in the second quarter. Jordan Kuchar and Tate Aronson both scored on short runs and QB Seth Kuchar connected with Jacob Haman from 31 yards out for another as the Raiders built a commanding 24-6 lead at halftime.

“(L-A-E) has a good running game,” Manley said, “and once they got that going, they were tough.”

Seth Kuchar added a TD run of his own in the third quarter and tossed a short 1-yard scoring play to Rick Hamel in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring for the Raiders.

Aronson led all rushers in the game with 141 yards on 23 carries, while Hamel (4 carries) and Jordan Kuchar (9 carries) added 39 and 38 yards, respectively.

Seth Kuchar completed six of 12 passes for 140 yards on the night.

Sophomore linebacker Matt Knudson recorded 22 tackles for the Wildcats in the loss.

L-A-E will look to extend its winning streak Friday when the Raiders travel to New Rockford. Benson County-Maddock plays North Star in Cando that same night.
