Minot police say a driver has been arrested after leading police on a chase through open fields, sidewalks a retaining wall and eventually a backyard fence.

Dispatchers got a call about a reckless driver in a parking lot near Dakota Square Mall about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The driver took off, drove onto sidewalks, over a retaining wall and nearly struck a pedestrian walking his dog, police said.

The 39-year-old man drove through fields after crashing through a fence and eventually came to a stop in a ravine, according to police.

He was arrested a short time later and taken to the hospital on suspicion of drug impairment, then taken to the Ward County Jail.
