Bismarck man pleads not guilty to killing father
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Bismarck man accused of killing his father has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say 75-year-old retired pastor Lawrence Winter died March 30 of head injuries and a stab wound to the chest. Forty-seven-year-old David Winter is charged with murder. The two shared an apartment.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that police officers testified Tuesday that David Winter admitted killing his father, saying he "snapped" when the man afflicted with Alzheimer's disease became confused.
Defense attorney Travis Finck said he is awaiting a mental evaluation report on Winter.
