Devils Lake woman pleads guilty to federal drug charges

On June 27, 2011, Melissa Ann Skadsem of Devils Lake, N.D., pleaded guilty before United States District Court Judge Ralph R. Erickson to two charges of distribution of a controlled substance.

Skadsem, 25, pleaded guilty to selling a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, and 12 tablets of methadone, a Schedule II controlled substance on January 14, 2010.

Skadsem also pleaded guilty to selling a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance on January 26, 2010.  Both incidents occurred on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

The charge of distribution of a controlled substance carries a statutory maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment.

Sentencing for Skadsem has been scheduled for September 12 in Fargo.
