UND airplane makes safe emergency landing

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A University of North Dakota airplane made an emergency landing at an airport in northwest Minnesota. The two people aboard were unharmed.

The Polk County Sheriff's Department said Jose Tavarez, 24, and Melvin Fultz, 36, smelled smoke early Thursday evening while on a training flight and safely landed the plane at the Fertile, Minn., airport.
