BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A North Dakota man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and aggravated assault with a weapon after a Red Lodge man was stabbed several times in the face and back.

The Billings Gazette says 27-year-old William John Quade of Fargo, N.D., is being held in the Yellowstone County jail on $500,000 bail pending his June 30 arraignment before District Judge Blair Jones.

Court records say the victim was found at 2:34 a.m. Wednesday in front of a Red Lodge hotel. Police Chief Richard Pringle says the victim was taken to a Red Lodge clinic and then transferred to Billings Clinic. Officers recovered a bloody knife.

A witness called dispatchers to report the suspect was driving a truck south on Highway 212. Police stopped the truck and found Quade covered in blood.
