DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A pedestrian hit by a vehicle in Dickinson in January has died, and authorities are conducting an autopsy to determine if the crash was a factor.

The Dickinson Press reports that 62-year-old Norbert Rodakowski suffered broken legs, a broken arm, face cuts and back injuries when he was struck on Jan. 6 and had been hospitalized since. His family says Rodakowski had been improving, even doing physical therapy, and they expected him to pull through. He died last Tuesday.

Kayln Meduna is accused of hitting Rodakowski and faces several charges including aggravated reckless driving and driving under the influence of marijuana. Stark County prosecutor Jim Hope says a decision on stiffer charges hinges on the autopsy results.

Defense attorney Kelly Armstrong did not speculate on what the autopsy results might mean.
