Man who walked away from Halfway House to plead guilty

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A convicted sex offender has agreed to plead guilty for keeping his whereabouts from North Dakota authorities.

Walter Old Rock is charged in federal court with failure to update sex offender registration. Prosecutors say he failed to return to a Devils Lake halfway house and did not register a new address with police.

Old Rock was arrested on Jan. 1 in Parshall.?He was convicted in 2005 of sexual abuse of a minor. He was moved to a halfway house in October as part of his supervised release.

He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
