Three sentenced in Ramsey County court this week
Charles Kiviniemi, 19, of Grand Forks was sentenced in Ramsey County District Court on one count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a class A Felony.
On May 6, 2010, the defendant sold 30 tablets of hydrocodone, a narcotic pain killer, to a confidential informant for $300. As he had little criminal history, he was placed on supervised probation and was given a deferred imposition of sentence for two years.
Russell Cavanaugh, 35, of Devils Lake was sentenced on the charge of Delivery of an Imitation Controlled Substance, a Class C Felony.
On September 9, 2010 he delivered a package of 1/8 ounce of what was said to be methamphetamine for a sum of $500. The lab results found it not to be meth.
As he had a long criminal history, including robbery in Burleigh County in 1996 and terrorizing in Benson County in 2010, he was sentenced to four years in the DOCR.
Mason Laber, 21, of Devils Lake was sentenced on the charge of facilitation of delivery of a controlled substance, a class a misdemeanor.
On July 7, 2010 Laber was with another individual, Dustin Miller, who had a drug deal with a confidential informant. During the deal, the confidential informant handed the cash to Laber, who then gave it to Miller, thus facilitating the delivery, albeit a minor role in the transaction.
He was sentenced to one year in the Department of Corrections, all of which suspended for two years and was placed on supervised probation. Miller plead guilty several weeks ago and was also placed on supervised probation as he had a short criminal history.
