DUI enforcement saturation in DL this weekend

Staff reports

The North Dakota Highway Patrol will conduct an alcohol enforcement saturation in the Devils Lake and surrounding area on January 28-29, 2011.

A saturation is conducted by calling additional officers to duty during times when an increased likelihood of impaired driving exists. The goal is to provide high visibility enforcement and remove impaired drivers from the highways.

This press release is provided in advance of the saturation in the hopes of deterring the deadly practice of drinking and driving.

Last year, 105 people lost their lives in 92 fatal traffic crashes in North Dakota — 47 of these crashes were alcohol-related.

Results of the alcohol saturation will be provided to the news media after completion of this special enforcement effort.
