Minot man found guilty of child pornography charges

Ray L. Huether, 42, of Minot, ND, was found guilty on Wednesday, Jan. 9, by a federal jury on charges of receipt of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors and possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors. United States District Court Judge Daniel L. Hovland presided.

Huether used the internet to download visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The charge of receipt of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors carries a statutory minimum mandatory penalty of 15 years in federal prison and a statutory maximum penalty of 40 years in federal prison.

The charge of possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors carries a statutory minimum mandatory penalty of five years in federal prison and a statutory maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.

Sentencing for Huether has been scheduled for April 18.
