GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have suspended the search for the remains of a Cooperstown man while they focus on the criminal case against the suspected killer.

They believe 54-year-old Kurt Johnson was shot in the forehead and then decapitated. Johnson's head was found in Daniel Wacht's home in Cooperstown.

The rest of his body has not been found.

Griggs County Sheriff Robert Hook tells WDAZ television that the search is being suspended while authorities "regroup" and concentrate on building a criminal case against the 30-year-old Wacht, who is charged with murder.
