Local woman falls victim to phone scam

A Devils Lake woman fell victim to a phone scam recently, according to police.

The woman was told she had won a shopping spree at Wal Mart and was asked to send $125 to cover processing and other fees. She also got stuck for a $50 phone bill.

The incident occurred in December and police are investigating.
