FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A North Carolina man who sold a stolen revolver to an undercover police officer in Grand Forks has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Danny Whitley had earlier pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He had been convicted on multiple felony charges in North Carolina between 2002 and 2008.

Authorities say the 33-year-old Whitley sold the revolver for $350,000 when he knew the gun had been stolen in Montana.

The second charge was for possession of a .22-caliber rifle.

Whitley had faced a maximum sentence of 20 years.
