Man faces decades in prison on several felonies

Eugene Lohnes, 40, appeared in Ramsey County District Court Tuesday to face several A-level felony charges, including gross sexual imposition and multiple counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

First was a preliminary hearing during which the state established necessary probable cause to move forward with the sexual imposition case against Lohnes, which carries a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Detective Sue Schwab took the stand on behalf of the state and detailed the alleged crime. She testified that she visited the victim of the alleged assault in the hospital, reporting that the victim had suffered bruising around her eyes and face.

According to Schwab’s testimony, the victim told her that Lohnes entered her home in the early morning hours of June 11 and forced sexual intercourse upon her. It was revealed during the proceedings that Lohnes and the alleged victim have at least one child together.

According to the victim, Lohnes also threatened to kill her with a knife.

The next court date for Lohnes is on hold until DNA results return from the state crime lab.

Lohnes also faces A-level felony charges for delivery of a controlled substance. That case was put on hold until results from a competency assestment done on Lohnes come in. He faces a maximum of 90 years in prison if convicted on all felony counts.
