The Firebirds came within one win of making the state tournament this season.

After shocking the East Region Tournament with a 1-0 upset win against top-seeded West Fargo, the eighth-seeded Devils Lake baseball team needed just one win to make the state tournament. The Firebirds, though, came up short.

After rain postponed the final two rounds to Saturday, DL lost 7-1 to No. 5 West Fargo Sheyenne in the semifinals.

Later that day in a state qualifier game, the Firebirds managed only two hits in a 2-0 loss to No. 7 Fargo South, ending their season.

The Bruins got two early runs in the first inning, which ended up being enough to win the game.

DL finishes the season with an overall record of 14-14.
