Paul Cross, 38, of Jamestown, formerly of Devils Lake, was sentenced on the charge of Gross Sexual Imposition in Ramsey County District Court Thursday.

In February, Cross entered a not guilty plea to the felony charge, but the parties stipulated to a pre-sentence investigation (PSI). Cross entered a guilty plea wherein he admitted to touching the sexual or other intimate parts of a 10-year-old girl over the course of five to seven days in the summer of 2012.

The information came to light in the fall of 2015, and an investigation ensued. At sentencing, Judge Lee Christofferson reviewed the PSI, along with victim impact statements, and heard arguments from counsel.

States Attorney Lonnie Olson argued for 10 years in the Department of Corrections, to serve four years, with six years suspended for 10 years on supervised probation, citing the breach of trust and impact on the victim and family.

Defense attorney Scott Thompson argued that the defendant had a low risk assessment, and argued for probation alone. The court sentenced Cross to 10 years in the DOCR, to serve one year, with nine years suspended for nine years, with supervised probation.

Anthony Lordson, 32, of Fargo, had his probation revoked on a number of criminal convictions from 2012.

On Nov. 29, 2012, he entered guilty pleas to Criminal Trespass, Interfering with an Emergency Call, Simple Assault on a Peace Officer, and Preventing Arrest, all C felonies. Lordson was sentenced to five years in the DOCR, to serve two years, with three years suspended.

While out on supervised probation, the court found that he had violated probation by leaving treatment before he was finished, using alcohol and heroin, and that on May 4, 2015, he committed the criminal offenses of Stalking and Assault on a Police Officer in Becker County, Minnesota.

Judge Christofferson revoked Lordson’s probation and resentenced him to four years in the DOCR, with credit for over two years time served.
