N.D. Chautauqua 2016 season continues in May

The 2016 N.D. Chautauqua  held a celebration on Sunday, April 17 of 40 years of Chautauqua since its renewal in 1976 for the country’s bicentennial. The 40th Reunion Celebration featured approximately 40 guests and six past presidents who have served Chautauqua all these years.

The Ternes Family Singers entertained and the season began with a bang.


May will feature four Chautauqua events. the first will be the Young Artist’s Concert at 7 p.m. in the DLHS Commons on Wednesday, May 11.

On May 13 and 14 the topic is birding in the Lake Region as Jim and Marsha Samson host the Friday evening, May 13, birding talk at 7 p.m. in the Chautauqua Gallery of LRSC.

On May 14 the Samsons will lead the early morning Bird Walk through Sullys Hill National Game Preserve, leaving the Visitors Center at 7 a.m.

On Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. in the Chautauqua Gallery of LRSC North Dakota’s First Lady, Betsey Dalrymple will talk about some of the initiatives that have been near and dear to her heart. (the date of this event may not be firm - watch the Devils Lake Journal for more information on this event).
