Giving Hearts Day is tomorrow, Feb. 11, 2016.

Seven local, non-profit organizations have been selected by Dakota Medical Foundation, Impact Foundation and Alex Stern Family Foundation to participate in Giving Hearts Day, the region’s largest giving day. Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour online fundraising event on February 11, 2016.  For this day only, contributions of $10 or more will be matched by generous donors.

Participating non-profit organizations in the Lake Region include:  CHI Mercy Hospital Foundation, Devils Lake Area Foundation, DLPS Development Fund, Hope Center, Lake Region State College Foundation, North Dakota Hands and Voices and St. Joseph Catholic School.

Giving Hearts day first launched the online drive in 2008 and the donors in the region (North Dakota and Western Minnesota) offered up $325,000.  It has since become a gateway for people to connect to causes doing good work in areas they passionately care about.  On February 12, 2015, there were 30,528 donations to 287 charities and causes in North Dakota and Western Minnesota.  The $6.96 million raised is now at work improving health, stocking pantry shelves for the hungry, providing shelter for the homeless, providing mentors for at-risk kids and in countless other ways, making life richer for everyone.

“We are excited to bring Giving Hearts Day to the residents of the Lake Region once again.  It’s a great way for people to donate to their favorite charity and in turn, multiply your donation.” stated Amy Heilman, committee member for Lake Region Giving Hearts Collaboration.  “Last year the participating non-profit groups had great success and we are looking forward to another successful Giving Hearts Day on February 11, 2016.” Heilman said.

This is an online fundraising event but for those that don’t have access to a computer or would like more information, representatives from the participating non-profit organizations will be at the City Plaza (old Wal-Mart building) on Giving Hearts Day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To support any of these charities and have your donation multiplied, go to on February 11, 2016.
