Capturing the Moments walk/run 5K ahead
Heartland Care Center is hosting the sixth annual “Capturing the Moments” 5K starting at 10 a.m. at Ruger Park on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Because the chocolate theme was so hot last year, they decided to spice things up this year with a “Fiesta” during the walk/run.
The proceeds from the past walk/run events have been used to bring renowned speaker, Jolene Brackey to Heartland Care Center, as well as providing a special screening this past May of the Glen Campbell documentary, “I’ll be me” where he and his family openly talk about his battle with Alzheimer’s.
They have also purchased the “Virtual Dementia Tour” and will be offering it to staff as well as to the community.
It is an overwhelming and eye-opening way to briefly experience life through the eyes of someone with dementia. This scientifically proven method is designed to build sensitivity and awareness in individuals caring for those with dementia.
Pick up a registration form for the walk/run at Heartland Care Center, Anytime Fitness, Thirsty’s Bar & Grill or online at http://eventide.org/heartland-hosts-memory-walkrun/.
You may also register the day of the event. This year at registration participants will receive a stainless steel sports water bottle.
