BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota brands expire on Jan. 1, and the Stockmen's Association is sending out renewal notices to ranchers this month.

There are more than 23,000 livestock brands on record in North Dakota. The state requires that all brands be renewed at the end of five years.

The Stockmen's operates the brand program under the direction of the state Legislature.

To renew a brand, livestock owners need to complete the forms and pay $25 per brand position.
