Serving begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Devils Lake Senior Center on Thanksgiving Day,Thursday, Nov. 27.

The Devils Lake Kiwanis Club has been serving a hearty Thanksgiving dinner for the community since 1973.

This year members Doug Broden and Heidi Stelzel are co-chairing the event. Volunteers have been hard at work planning and preparing for the meal which is served at the Devils Lake Senior Center.

Home delivered meals are available if you can’t get to the center but should be arranged in advance.

Reservations are necessary to make sure they have enough food either way - if you’re coming to the Center to eat or if you need a meal delivered. Call the Devils Lake Senior Center at 662-5061 by 4 p.m. today -  Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Broden says they could use a few more pies, so if you’d like to donate, they will take any kind of pie you’d like to give. The most popular are pumpkin and cherry, but any pie will be welcome.

Volunteers from the Kiwanis Club and others from the community will be serving up roast turkey and all the trimmings - mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, salad, cranberries, vegetable and home-made pie with topping.

The Devils Lake Senior Center’s normal activities are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, but the Center is open for the mealtime.

Kiwanis member Jim Beatty will be at the piano for the first 45 minutes of the meal providing easy listening music for diners to enjoy.

A free will donation is welcome to help defray the costs for this meal that brings the community together.
