An area man was arrested Tuesday morning after fleeing from law enforcement officials, the Devils Lake Police Department reports.

A 26-year-old Minnewaukan man is expected to face numerous charges including fleeing with a motor vehicle, fleeing by foot, driving under the influence, driving under suspension and reckless driving.

The incident began as a BIA officer noted erratic driving on Highway 20 South. After being pulled over by a Devils Lake Police Department officer, the man refused to get out of the vehicle and pushed the accelerator to his vehicle.

A chase then began on the south side of Devils Lake until the vehicle ran into a parked BIA bus.

The suspect then ran out of the car and tried to flee the scene.

He was soon arrested by the Devils Lake Police Department.

Damage to the bus is believed to be more than $10,000.
