Accident last week fatal to passenger, injures driver
An accident last week proved fatal for a 79-year-old Devils Lake man.
According to the report from Sgt. J. Knowski of the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Scott Austin, 48, of Devils Lake was driving a 2003 Ford F150 Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 5:12 p.m. The truck was southbound on Ramsey County Road No. 3 when the vehicle veered to the left and into the east ditch. The pickup vaulted over a field approach, became airborne and rolled approximately two times coming to rest on its wheels facing west. The driver remained in the vehicle and the passenger, 79-year old Floyd Austin, Jr., was ejected.
The driver was taken to Mercy hospital and then flown to Altru hospital for treatment, The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The NDHP is continuing to investigate this incident.
