Nature photography workshop to be held at Sullys Hill

These youngsters are enjoying taking photos on the hiking path in Sullys Hill.

October 12 - 18 is National Wildlife Refuge Week and to kick off the celebration of nature the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with the Friends of Sullys Hill will be hosting a free Nature Photography Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 2 - 5 p.m.

The workshop will combine demonstrations, discussion and hands-on outdoor shooting time. Topics covered will include: camera basics, camera gear, elements of photography, rules of composition and, yes, sometimes breaking the rules.

Bring your own camera and learn how to take award-winning photos from Laura Cronquist of Grand Forks, ND All levels of experience and types of cameras are welcome.

A “Kids with Camera Workshop” will be held the same day from 2 - 4 p.m. for ages 8 -12.

Photography basics will be followed by a hike with cameras. Digital cameras will be available for use by students.
