MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Minot Mayor Curt Zimbelman says demolition might be the only solution for nearly one-fifth of the homes in the city that have been damaged by Souris River flooding.

Zimbelman says a Federal Emergency Management Agency reports shows that 4,100 homes have been damaged by flooding. The FEMA report says 805 homes have been inundated with more than 10 feet of water.

Zimbelman says those homes might be beyond repair and might have to be torn down.

The mayor says the federal report shows that 802 homes in Minot are submerged with up to 6 feet of water and nearly 2,400 have 6 to 10 feet of water in them.
