Trucking company worker burned, doing well

POWERS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — The owner of a Powers Lake trucking company says a worker who was burned over the weekend is doing well in a Twin Cities burn center.

Avery Enterprises owner Kevin Avery says the worker suffered third-degree burns and underwent plastic surgery.

Avery declined to name the worker or another worker who he says touched off an explosion inside a tank while welding a crack in a pipe on Saturday. Avery says the tank had some fumes from oilfield waste that ignited and blew a manhole off the tank and through the roof of a shop.

Avery says the worker who touched off the explosion has been fired. He did not have an estimate on the shop damage.

The Burke County Sheriff's Office said it had no information on the incident.
