BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's insurance commissioner says damage claims from a Memorial Day wind storm in the Fargo area total more than $4.2 million so far.

Adam Hamm said insurance carriers have handled 1,740 claims and another 286 are pending for damage to homes, vehicles, commercial property and other property.

The storms packed winds of 70 miles per hour and knocked out electricity to thousands in the Fargo area.

Hamm said the $4.2 million figure includes $340,000 in damage to city and county property.
