FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Xcel Energy says it spent nearly $320,000 on repairs after the Memorial Day thunderstorms that hit the Red River Valley, knocking out power to about 39,000 Xcel customers.

Xcel spokeswoman Bonnie Lund tells KFGO radio that employees were brought in from Grand Forks; Sioux Falls, S.D.; and St. Cloud and the Twin Cities in Minnesota to work on the system.

The Forum newspaper reports that about 7,600 customers of Cass County Electric Cooperative lost power in the storms that packed winds in excess of 70 mph. That utility also has completed repairs.
