Suspicious house fire in Devils Lake under scrutiny

This house at 824 Second Street in Devils Lake remained roped off this morning as an investigation continues into a suspicious house fire there Thursday afternoon.

An investigation continues today into a suspicious house fire at 824 Second Street in Devils Lake.

Fire Chief Jim Moe says his department received a call from the police department at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday about smoke coming from the house.

“There appeared to be fires and burning at three different locations in the house,” Moe said.

The home was unoccupied at the time and the fire had appeared to burn itself out by the time officials arrived on the scene.

“It’s kind of a mess,” added Moe. “We’ll be investigating today. That’s about all we can say right now.”
