Summit Trail in western ND Badlands closed
WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. Forest Service has closed the Summit Trail in the western North Dakota Badlands because of unsafe conditions.
Officials say heavy rains in May caused ground shifting and slumping across several sections of the trail in the Little Missouri National Grassland. Downed trees also have made the trail impassable in several areas.
District Ranger Ron Hecker says reopening the seven-mile trail will be a priority.
