ND deer license application deadline extended

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — People who want to hunt deer in North Dakota in the fall have another week to submit their license application.

The Game and Fish Department said Gov. Jack Dalrymple on Wednesday approved extending the deadline to June 15 because people have been busy with flooding. Officials say the extra week shouldn't cause much of a delay for the license lottery drawing, which typically takes place about the first week in July.

It is the first time the license application deadline has been extended. Game and Fish Director Terry Steinwand says the circumstances are "unprecedented" and he hopes it's the last time it has to be done.
