Bad winter weather lingering in the Dakotas

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Poor winter weather that caused problems in the Dakotas over the weekend is continuing as the workweek begins.

National Weather Service advisories are posted for much of North Dakota and South Dakota. The bad weather is expected to linger into Tuesday in eastern South Dakota. Several inches of snow are expected, along with wind chills as cold as 40 degrees below zero in some areas.

The Highway Patrols in the two states say bad weather on Sunday led to numerous vehicle crashes on Interstate 94 in North Dakota and Interstate 90 in South Dakota. Some lanes of both highways had to be closed for a time. Several injuries but no deaths were reported.

Freezing rain and fog led to some flight delays Sunday at the Rapid City airport.
