Grand prize on display
Everything is ready for the big event of the season, the Devils Lake Volunteer Fire Department’s Ice Fishing Tournament. It is the 27th year for the event and it proves to be the biggest and best yet.
There are over $190,000 in prizes to be given away throughout the weekend which begins today, Thursday, Jan. 27.
Preregistration begins this evening in the Memorial Building from 5 to 11 p.m. There’s a soup and chili feed starting at 6 p.m. until it’s all gone both Thursday and Friday. Door prizes will be given out, but you must be present to win.
Pre-registration will take place at the Memorial Building also on Friday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 11 p.m.; and Saturday, Jan. 29, from 8 to 11 a.m. then on the ice from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The tournament site is located approximately 6 miles west of Devils Lake on Highway 19 at Six Mile Bay.
Fishing starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday when the horn blows. Live bait will be available on the ice. Fishing ends at 3:30 p.m. with another horn blast.
The drawings for the raffle prizes will be held Saturday night in the Memorial Building. For those prizes you need not be present to win.
