DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — An economic development official says companies are looking to create about 700 jobs in the Dickinson area by spring.

Dickinson is in western North Dakota, where the energy industry is booming. Stark Development Corp. Executive Vice President Gaylon Baker says companies he describes as "real strong players" in the industry have been discussing bigger buildings and bigger sites, and a couple are considering locating in Dickinson.

The Dickinson Press reports that adequate housing remains a big concern. Baker says companies he talks to worry about how they'll house workers. He says the development corporation is starting to help with housing creation for the first time.
