High-level Air Force official visiting Minot base

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A high-level Air Force official is making a visit to Minot Air Force Base.

Lt. Gen. James Kowalski took over as commander of Global Strike Command during a ceremony at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana on Thursday. He's visiting airmen in Minot on Monday.

Global Strike Command was formed about a year and a half ago to oversee the nation's nuclear-equipped missiles and bombers. The Minot base has both.
